These are the waters of the Futomi Coast. These waters constitute an intertidal reef zone in a highly natural state and with a high level of biodiversity. They are home to Phyllospadix japonicus (Nakaoka et al., 2006; Marine Biosystems Research Center, Chiba University, 2010). These also are important feeding waters for green turtles (Suganuma, 2010).
