Characteristics A separate window opensReferences

These are the waters in the vicinity of the mouth of the Ichinomiya River. The Ichinomiya River's river-mouth tidal mud flats are some of the few tidal mud flats between Kujukuri Beach and Sotobo and serve as an important settlement ground on the Pacific coast of the Kanto Region for creatures that live in tidal mud flats. The main benthos living here are Eurydice akiyamai, Nuttallia olivacea, Mya arenaria, Macrophthalmus japonicus, sand bubbler crab, and others, and during the migration seasons of spring and fall relatively high numbers of species and populations of birds are seen here, where at least 1% of the sanderling's minimum estimated population has been recorded. Common redshank have been recorded here (Ministry of the Environment, 2001).
