These are the coastal waters of Matsukawaura Lagoon that spread from the mouth of the Utagawa River. Matsukawaura Lagoon is habitat for Batillaria attramentaria, Japanese littleneck clam, Nuttallia olivacea, and other shellfish, ragworm and other benthic organisms, and other creatures (Ministry of the Environment, 2001).
