Status of Fluorocarbon Recovery from Commercial Freezers/Air Conditioners in FY 2007

The Ministry of the Environment (MOE) released the state of the recovery of fluorocarbons from class-1 specified equipments (i.e., commercial freezers such as food showcases, large scale freezers/refrigerators and refrigerated storages, and commercial air conditioners) in FY 2007.

Class-1 fluorocarbons recovery operators reported to prefectural governors that the amount of fluorocarbons recovered from class-1 specified equipments in FY 2007 were in compliance with the Law Concerning the Recovery and Destruction of Fluorocarbons.

The total number of class-1 specified equipments collected for disposal and servicing in FY2007 were approximately 1.3 million units and the total amount of fluorocarbons recovered were approximately 3,168 tons.
