The High-level Segment of the 14th Session of the Commission on Sustainable Development Held

The High-level Segment of the 14th Session of the Commission on Sustainable Development (CSD-14) was held in the United Nations Headquarters, New York on May 10-12, 2006. As 2006 is the first year of the current implementation cycle (Review year), CSD-14 focused on progress made in the following thematic areas: Energy for Sustainable Development; Industrial Development; Air pollution/ Atmosphere; and Climate Change. Ministers and representatives of international organizations and major groups discussed the status and constraints on those thematic areas and shared experience and good practices. Japan's Senior Vice-Minister of the Environment Dr. Yasuyuki Eda spoke about Japan's experience with improvements in energy efficiency and its contribution to the international society.
