OECD Environment and Development Ministers Meeting Held

A joint meeting of the OECD Development Assistance Committee (DAC) and the Environment Policy Committee (EPOC) at the ministerial level was held at the OECD headquarters in Paris on April 4, 2006. The meeting covered how environmental agencies and development assistance agencies in OECD countries can strengthen linkages between them in order to mainstream environmental issues in development assistance policies, with particular attention given to climate change adaptation into development co-operation. The meeting adopted the "Declaration on Integrating Climate Change Adaptation into Development Co-operation" and the "Framework for Common Action around Shared Goals."
Japan was represented by Mr. Toshiro Kojima, Vice-Minister for Global Environment Affairs, Ministry of the Environment and Mr. Shigekazu Sato, Director-General of Economic Cooperation Bureau, Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
