The 7th Session of the UN Forum on Forests Held

The 7th Session of the UN Forum on Forests was held on April 16-27 in New York, U.S.A.
Representatives of over 100 nations, forest-related international organizations, and other organizations such as environmental NGOs participated. From Japan, officials of the Ministry of the Environment, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the Forestry Agency participated.
In this session, the forum discussed and adopted the Non-Legally Binding Instrument (NLBI). This includes the measures for achieving 4 global objectives and for promoting sustainable forest management until 2015. The Multi-Year Programme of Work (MYPOW), a road map for securing the effectiveness of the NLBI, was discussed and adopted as well.
