International Coral Reef Initiative (ICRI) General Meeting Held

The International Coral Reef Initiative (ICRI) General Meeting (GM) took place on April 23-24 in Ikebukuro, Tokyo. The meeting saw the decision to develop the Action Plan toward the 2008 International Year of the Reef (IYOR). The meeting also adopted the "Resolution on Coral Reefs and Climate Change,""Recommendation on Developing Marine Protected Area Networks," etc. Japan made a proposal to hold the International Reef Protected Area Network Conference (IRPANC) in 2008. The U.S. and Mexico will co-host the next ICRI GM in January 2008, commemorating the worldwide launch of the 2008 IYOR.
