National Forum for SAICM Asia-Pacific Regional Meeting to be Held

The Inter-Ministerial Meeting on the Strategic Approach to International Chemicals Management (SAICM), for which the Ministry of the Environment serves as Secretariat, will hold a national forum on Friday, March 16 for exchange of information and views on chemical management in governments, industry and NGOs. The forum is open to public audience.

The Strategic Approach to International Chemicals Management (SAICM), adopted at the International Conference on Chemicals Management (ICCM) on February 6, 2006 in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, is a policy framework for international action to minimize the risk of chemicals on human health and the environment. To facilitate the implementation of SAICM, regional meetings are being held in 5 regions around the world. The Asia-Pacific regional meeting is being planned from the 21st to 23rd of May in Bangkok, Thailand. In preparation for this Asia-Pacific regional meeting, the national forum will be held with the aim of exchanging information and views on the current efforts and future challenges for chemical management in governments, industry and NGOs.
