Opinions of the Minister of the Environment on the Environmental Impact Statement for the Chayashinden Land Readjustment Project

On December 27, 2006, the Ministry of the Environment (MOE) submitted the Minister's opinions on the environmental impact statement for the Chayashinden Land Readjustment Project to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, in accordance with the provisions of the Environmental Impact Assessment Law.
This project is planned to develop an area of 147.5 ha in Aichi Prefecture mainly for residential use. The MOE commented on the following:

1. As the project area includes those that need to be protected such as existing schools, determine the impacts of dust, noise and vibration caused by construction machines and vehicles on them, and take measures if needed.

2. Give appropriate consideration, such as the use of existing habitats, when creating the planned green areas so that the areas will become suitable habitats for the rare species, and appropriately maintain the areas.
