Invitation for Participation in Japan's Voluntary Emissions Trading Scheme (JVETS) for FY2006

The aim of JVETS is to accumulate knowledge and experience in the domestic emissions trading scheme, and to encourage private entities to voluntarily reduce CO2 emissions.
MOE is now inviting private entities to participate in JVETS as trading participants who open their own holding accounts in the JVETS registry and trade emissions allowances within the scheme. Applications should be sent to the MOE between the 21st of December 2006 and the 22nd of January 2007. A briefing session for applicants will be held on the 17th of January 2007 in Tokyo.
