Invitation of opinions in response to the proposal of revision of the Basic Policy Considering Promotion of Procurement of Eco-Friendly Goods and Services based on the Act on Promoting Green Procurement

At the time of revision of 'the Basic Policy Considering Promotion of Procurement of Eco-Friendly Goods and Services'(hereinafter called the Basic Policy) based on 'the Act on Promotion of Procurement of Eco-Friendly Goods and Services by the State and Other Entities'(hereinafter called the Act on Promoting Green Procurement), we prepared a draft as in the attachment. In order to listen to a wide range of opinions from the nation, we implement a Public Comment Procedure.

Institutions like the States, etc. are promoting procurement of eco-friendly goods and services since April, 2001, by working out 'the Policy for Promoting Procurement of Eco-Friendly Goods and Services'(Procurement Policy) in accordance with the Basic Policy decided by the Cabinet based on the Act on Promoting Green Procurement.
Designated procurement items(type of eco-friendly goods, etc. which primarily institutions like the State, etc. are encouraged to procure) and their evaluation criteria, etc. are subject to revision depending on the development and dissemination of goods, etc. and the progress of scientific knowledge.
This year we called for proposal for reference and held a review meeting attended by experts, etc. to prepare a draft revision.
In this connection, we invite a wide range of opinions to it nationwide which will be helpful in finalizing the revision of the Basic Policy..

Comments will be accepted from Thursday, November 10 to 17:00 Monday, December 5, 2016.

Please note that all procedures related to this invitation for public comments will be conducted in Japanese, and the comments need to be submitted in Japanese, by mail, facsimile or email.
