Public Comments Invited regarding the draft of the revision of Basic Policy for the Promotion of Contracts considering Reduction of Emissions of Greenhouse Gases and others by the State and Other Entities.

Under the Law concerning the Promotion of Contracts considering Reduction of Emissions of Greenhouse Gases and others by the State and Other Entities (the Green Contract Law), the state and other entities shall promote contracts considering reduction of emissions of greenhouse gases and others (green contracts) in accordance with 'Basic Policy for the Promotion of Contracts considering Reduction of Emissions of Greenhouse Gases and others by the State and Other Entities' (the Basic Policy) when they conclude contracts.

Based on the article 6 of the Green Contract Law, the Minister of Environment makes the draft of the Basic Policy, which prescribes the contents and needed procedure when the state and other entities conclude green contracts. The Basic Policy would be revised when it is necessary. The Ministry of the Environment (MOE) has held the investigative commission by intellectuals from this July, and it has discussed the revision of the Basic Policy.

The investigative commission would write up the draft of the revision of the Basic Policy, which includes new type of green contracts, the contracts of industrial waste management. Thus MOE invites public comments regarding the draft of the revision of the Basic Policy. Comments will be accepted from November 14 to December 12.

Please note that all procedures related to this invitation for public comments will be conducted in Japanese, and the comments need to be submitted in Japanese.
