Budget Request for FY 2007 Environmental Conservation Expenditure

The environmental conservation expenditure is a combined total of the costs for the conservation of the global environment, the prevention of pollution, and the protection of the natural environment.

In order for the government to implement environmental conservation measures efficiently and effectively, the Ministry of the Environment annually coordinates ministries' and agencies' budget estimation policies and comes up with the total amount for the yearly budget request, pursuant to the Act for Establishment of the Ministry of the Environment, Article 3.

The total budget request for FY 2007 environmental conservation expenditure is 2,442.9 billion yen, with an increase of 308.7 billion yen or 14.5% over the FY 2006 initial budget of 2,134.2 billion yen.
