Overview of the Meeting of the OECD Environment Policy Committee at Ministerial Level

The Meeting of the OECD Environment Policy Committee (EPOC) at Ministerial Level were held at the OECD Headquarters on 29-30 March 2012. 34 member countries and others including Russia under the accession review, emerging economies such as China, Indonesia and Brazil and representatives of international organizations attended, and discussed the OECD Green Growth Strategy which is to be an input from OECD to Rio+20 UN Conference on Sustainable Development. Ministers adopted a Policy Statement (see attached) as a result of the debate.

Mr. Tatsushi Terada, Vice-minister for Global Environmental Affairs and others from the Ministry of the Environment participated in this meeting, and engaged in a vigorous debate while demonstrating Japan's commitment to the issue.

Under the theme "Making Green Growth Deliver", ministerial discussions covered:

Session III The Environmental Outlook to 2050 - An urgent call for green growth policies
