Transportation of Japanese Crested Ibis (TOKI) to Sado Japanese Crested Ibis Conservation Center from dispersed breeding bases
Based on Programmes for Rehabilitation of Natural Habitats and Maintenance of Viable Populations, dispersed breeding of TOKI for risk distribution has been implemented in cooperation with Ishikawa Zoo, Izumo Japanese Crested Ibis Breeding Center, and Tama Zoological Park.
New born individuals from the dispersed bases in last 2 years will be transported to the Sado Japanese Crested Ibis Conservation Center as the candidates to be returned to the wild. The number of candidates is 13 from Ishikawa Zoo, 10 from Izumo Japanese Crested Ibis Breeding Center, and 5 from Tama Zoological Park.
