International Workshop on Large-scale Natural Disaster and Protected Areas to be held on February 17, 2012

As a 40th anniversary event of the World Heritage Convention, this Workshop will be held on the 17th of February, 2012 in Tokyo, Japan. The Workshop is co-hosted by the MOE Government of Japan and Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan. In this Workshop, there will be lectures from the experts of the International Union for Conservation of Nature and Natural Resources (IUCN) about the roles of the protected areas to mitigate the damage and to revive from the disaster, concerning the 2011 off the Pacific coast of Tohoku Earthquake and so on. Moreover, there will be a discussion about the measures needed in the protected areas which suffered damages from natural disaster.

This Workshop is open to the public.
