Results of the 15th meeting of the Subsidiary Body on Scientific, Technical and Technological Advice (SBSTTA15) of the Convention on Biological Diversity

The 15th meeting of the Subsidiary Body on Scientific, Technical and Technological Advice (SBSTTA15) of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) was held from November 7-11, 2011 in Montreal, Canada. Approximately 600 representatives from governments, intergovernmental and non-governmental organizations, indigenous and local communities, academia and others attended the meeting.

SBSTTA15 adopted a total of 8 recommendations, which will be submitted to the 11th meeting of the Conference of the Parties (COP11) to be held in October 2012 in India. Those recommendations include indicator framework for the Strategic Plan for Biodiversity 2011-2020 and Aichi Biodiversity Targets and sustainable use of biodiversity.

In addition, MOE organized the side events featuring the recent work on the East and Southeast Asia Biodiversity Information Initiative (ESABII) and the International Partnership for the Satoyama Initiative (IPSI) on November 8, 2011 in collaboration with partner organizations.
