Results of the first session of the plenary meeting on Intergovernmental Science-policy Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES)
The first session of the plenary meeting on Intergovernmental Science-policy Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES) was held in Nairobi, Kenya on October 3-7, 2011.
At the meeting, while mainly having discussions about the draft principles and procedures governing the work of IPBES, its governance structure, processes for nomination and selection of host institution and host country for the platform, and initial elements of the work programme, the side event about "An Informal Pre-Plenary Scientific International Workshop on Assessment and the IPBES" was held on October 4.
Based on the result of this meeting, IPBES will be established in the second session of the plenary meeting to be held by the end of next year after having further discussion.
