Best Beach 100

The Ministry of the Environment selected the Best Beach 100 of Japan.
Its purpose is to recognize and publicize some of Japan's unique and pleasant shorelines, where people can swim or simply enjoy the natural beauty of these special places.

These beaches were selected based on a new set of criteria; beauty and cleanliness, environmental consciousness, safety and comfortableness, friendliness and accessibility, and ecological richness. Twelve of these 100 beaches were selected as superior beaches.
