Ministry of the Environment Invites Entries for the Seto Inland Sea Scenic Photo Contest

The Ministry of the Environment and the Association for the Environmental Conservation of the Seto Inland Sea will hold the Seto Inland Sea Scenic Photo Contest in order to recognize anew the precious environment of the Seto Inland Sea and to promote actions for its conservation.

The contest will be held to renew our appreciation of representative natural, historic, and cultural landscapes of the Seto Inland Sea, to record them in the form of photography, and to use them as a base for future environmental conservation efforts. The event is held to mark the 30th anniversary of the Association’s establishment.

Entries should be scenic shots of the Seto Inland Sea (including coastal areas), such as images of its natural beauty, people’s livelihoods, traditional events (such as festivals), and historic buildings.

Entries should be submitted between Monday, February 27, 2006 and Saturday, September 30, 2006, to the address below:

Contest Rules
* Entries must be color prints, 203 x 254 mm or 210 x 297 mm (A4).
* You may submit an unlimited number of photos, but will not win multiple awards.
* All submissions must be original, unpublished photos. Photos must have been taken at some time between 2004 and 2006.
* The contest is open to everyone. No limitation is set on your age or place you live.
* Submit the following information on separate sheet attached to your photograph: your (1) address, (2) name, (3) age, (4) occupation, (5) title of the photo, (6) comment on why you wanted to take this particular photo, (7) place where the photo was taken, (8), date when the photo was taken. Information should be presented in Japanese.
* All entries and contest materials become property of the sponsors of this contest, and none will be returned.
* Entrants of winning photos must submit the original negative, slide or digital file. Failure to do so within a period specified may lead to cancellation of awards.
* The sponsors reserve the copyright to winning photos.
