Implementation of the "Green Wave 2011"

May 22 each year is the International Day for Biological Diversity (IDB) proclaimed by the United Nations. The Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity (SCBD) is calling the public to participate in the "Green Wave", a tree planting campaign for children and youth around the world, at 10:00 AM local time on the IDB.

Responding to this call, the MOE, in coordination with the Forestry Agency, Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries and the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism, is calling the same for the participation in the "Green Wave 2011", in which children and youth around the world would plant and water trees during the period from March 1st through June 15th.

Besides, this year is the "International Year of Forests" proclaimed by the United Nations as well as the launching year of the "United Nations Decade on Biodiversity", and the MOE will address to enhance national momentum in this regard.
