Result of the "Green Wave 2010"

During the period from March 1, 2010 (Monday), through May 31, 2010 (Monday), the MOE, the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, and the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism called for participation in the "Green Wave 2010," in which children and youth all around the world planted and watered trees in commemoration of the "International Day for Biological Diversity" (May 22nd).
The MOE has put together the results of those activities, showing that tree-planting activities took place in 43 prefectures, by some 111,000 participants from 1,588 groups, resulting in nearly 254,000 trees planted.
