UNEP Special Envoy Tokiko Kato to Visit Borneo

Ms. Tokiko Kato, a renowned Japanese singer and environmental activist, will visit the Saba State in Malaysia from August 17 to 25 as a Special Envoy for the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP).

During her stay in the state, she will visit sites of environmental protection activities such as biodiversity conservation, orangutan rehabilitation, and forest conservation programs, besides visiting urban sites. Her concert will be held in Kota Kinabalu to promote fellowship with the local people.

Ms. Kato was appointed as Special Envoy for the UNEP in October 2000. Since then she has visited a number of environmental protection activity sites in 12 countries in Asia and the Pacific region.
