Designating Animals Put under Capture Regulation in Special Zones of National and Quasi-National Parks

For the purpose of animal conservation in National and Quasi-National Parks, the Ministry of the Environment designated nine animals, the capture of which is prohibited in particular National and Quasi-National Parks' Special Zones starting on July 20, 2006.

Designated animals and their habitats are as follows:
(NP and QNP stand for National Park and Quasi-National Park, respectively.)

Eretmochelys imbricate; Iriomote NP and Okinawa-Kaigan QNP (Kerama area)
Chelonia mydas; Kirishima-Yaku NP (Yakushima area), Iriomote NP and Okinawa-Kaigan QNP (Kerama area)
Caretta caretta; Kirishima-Yaku NP (Yakushima area), Iriomote NP and Okinawa-Kaigan QNP (Kerama area)
Indolestes boninensis; Ogasawara NP
Hemicordulia ogasawarensis; Ogasawara NP
Orthetrum poecilops miyajimaensis; Setonaikai NP (Miyajima area)
Melitaea protomedia protomedia; Daisen-Oki NP (Daisen-Hiruzen area and Sambesan area) and Hyonosen-Ushiroyama-Nagisan QNP
Everes lacturnus kawaii; Saikai NP (Hiradojima-Ikitsukijima area)
Aporia hippia japonica; Yatsugatake-Chushinkogen QNP
