Public Comments are Invited Regarding the SHIRETOKO World Natural Heritage Management Plan

The SHIRETOKO World Natural Heritage Property has been managed by government agencies and related bodies using the Management Plan for the SHIRETOKO Nominated Site (2004).

The Ministry of the Environment, the Forestry Agency, the Agency for Cultural Affairs, and the Hokkaido prefectural government have revised the current management plan and developed the SHIRETOKO World Natural Heritage Management Plan which reflects the recommendations of the report of the monitoring mission by UNESCO and IUCN and incorporates advice from the SHIRETOKO World Natural Heritage Site Scientific Committee. This plan clarifies the basic policies related to issues such as enforcement of relevant legislation and promotion of various programs in order to implement adequate and effective administration by realizing close collaboration and cooperation among government agencies and related bodies. Public comments are invited regarding the SHIRETOKO World Natural Heritage Management Plan from May 29 until June 29.
